Ravishing Apo...

It's my entry for Weekly Theme Challenge #26: I'm All That (And a bag of chips too)

There are many paradoxes in my life.
Some fancies generated by my imagination are interpreted as really existing.
So, I live in the fairy beautiful world, because it’s truly wonderful! when its contradictions are accepted by me…

Hi eralex61, have you ever thought about going back to this one and playing with this some more? I like it a lot and I'd be very curious to see what this sphere would look like if it actually were a perfectly round sphere without that flattened edge/bottom. Thanks.

Y a-t-il un rapport avec le cube de Necker ou le triangle de Penrose?(thèmes abordés par Escher dans Belvédère et Chute d'eau)

Hey,
I one of my last lamp was inspired by this fractal :-)
You can see it here:

I love that fractal :-)
Thank You for inspiration :-)

It's a lot hard to do illusions like these with curved surfaces, so kudos! You know you could make something similar to this in real life without the interior/exterior inversion), which would make a pretty cool fractal sculpture...

How in the world did you get this to come out of a fractal generator?

Just a few of math and luck, but a lot of time and effort for parameters tuning. As you can see it's still not perfect.

Nah, it looks plenty-good

The fact that you got it to look unmistakeably in a 3-D shape w/ a program that deals w/ 2d repetitive patterns (yesh, that sounded nearly insulting to Apophysis, heh)--that's pretty darn sweet. Props :)

that's done with apo? perhaps you mean apo as in "apollonian" instead of "apophysis"? it looks 3d, which i didn't know apo can do. in fact i know it's 3d, because i've rendered such fractals myself ;)

from my older 3d fractal renderer:
